DIGIMATION WEBSITE  -  USER INTERFACE AND PRODUCT BROWSER

Notepad, MS Visual Studio, Photoshop

I was responsible for overall design, cross-browser compatibility and for products browser. Site engine is heavily based on AJAX technique, which was very new at the moment -- I started working on it in December 2004. Site went online in November 2005.
When visitor perform search or just browse products, javascript code send request to server and load only essential information about products, without HTML tags that consume about 90% of size of average page, so you can flip thru catalog as quick as your computer can render new pages, no need to wait for server. Each time you click 'next' button javascript just render another page for you.

Besides this visitor now have control over page layout. If you hate scrolling, you can adjust number of rows and columns so single page will be always completely visible inside browser window.

In the Internet Explorer you even have drag-n-drop functionality. Just grab icon and drop it to the lightbox or shopping cart.
Once products loaded, user can sort them and apply defferent filters. All these operations performed by javascript in browser, no information travel between browser and server.
User can refine his search as quick as it gets.
If you prefer to see more items at once, you can switch to list view. Again, no interaction with server involved.

And you still can see product icon, just place mouse cursor over product id.
This is 'product detais' page where visitor can see more information about particular product. When you done, you click 'back' and immediately jump to product browser exactly where you leave it.

You probably already tired of this, but let me say it one more time - no need to reload anything. And this is true for any page on the site. It doesn't matter if you see 'company' page, or 'help' or anything else. At any given moment all loaded catalog info is available to browse left and right.
