Education

Taganrog State University of Radio Engineering, graduated in 1994 with Bachelor degree in Computer Engineering.

Gelendjik School of Arts, graduated in 1986, where I obtained some skills with pen, gouache and clay.

Professional Experience

Senior 3D Imagery Designer @ Teague Aviation Studio; Seattle, WA — since 2006

Teague provides expertise in various design disciplines including aviation, user interface, consumer electronics and consumer lifestyles. Partnership with Boeing started in 1940s and company participated in design of every single Boeing commercial airplane ever since.

My primary occupation is airplane interior and exterior illustrations and animations for Airline Presentation group which involve modeling/modifying of airplane interior and seats specific to customer, validation of colors and materials, setting up scene, lighting, rendering, post processign and printing final illustrations.

Also occasionally support Industrial Design team with modeling design sketches for evaluation, prepare models for rapid prototyping and for final production.

During my tenure at Teague I greatly imporved modeling accuracy and detailing, researched new techniques and taught other artists to use it, so my group output quality is on whole new level now. For example airplane exteriors illustrations never were on standard delivery list and now more and more customers ask us about it. Now that most popular airplanes are modeled and scenes are set, we can produce new livery illustrations in matter of hours.

Designed and implemented imagery and models repository. It's active web application: MySQL+PHP+JavaScript. Now artists and designers archive their works and can find them very easily using any known keywords to quickly support Boeing and airlines.

Digital Artist @ 3Plains Corp.; Seattle, WA — 2005-2006

The 3Plains mission was to deliver 3D visualization products that communicate technical information vital to human performance and safety.

While working here I was busy doing 3D modeling, texturing, animation setup, rendering and artist training. Besides this also did design/scripting for company web site and converted several training courses into web-compatible forms: HTML and Flash.

Application Engineer @ Digimation Inc.; New Orleans, LA — 2003-2005

Digimation sell 3D models, computer graphics software and provide creative services.

My primary occupation here was doing custom 3D modeling and maintaining models library - fixing inaccuracy, custom modifications, texturing, creating materials, setting animation, rendering and converting models between different formats/packages (3D Max, Lightwave, Maya, XSI, Rhino and so on). To help frequent and/or tedious operations I wrote several scripts and utilities.

On my second year at Digimation I asked to and was transferred to web devlepment team. I designed new company web site which is heavily rely on AJAX technique. I was responsible for overall design, cross-browser compatibility and products browser for online shopping and coordinated team of 5 developers. My design was online for almost 4 years and recently was replaced with a new one.

At the same time I designed and implemented user interface for Digimation e-Catalog/e-Library (C#, .NET). This development entails working with and creating many original UI controls and custom graphics processing procedures. The resulting application is multithreaded for better response times and has a smart picture caching engine. Internal versions of the application have tools for database maintenance so management people don't have to deal with native SQL commands and structures, but instead rely upon clean easy to use interfaces. It took about 6 months to finish it. Company paid $500K to outsource developer for previous version.

Also created several Flash banners for Digimation web-site and created/prepared ads for publication in magazines.

Freelance 3D Modeler, Decipher Inc.; Norfolk, VA — summer 2000

Decipher produce collectible cards, trading card and role-playing games.

I developed set of major 3D models for Jedi Knight (Star Wars) trading card game. All models were validated and approved by Lucasfilm Ltd. before they were used in final product.

Digital and Technical Artist @ Tehnolog Ltd.; Gelendjik, Russia — 1999-2003

Tehnolog produce desktop board games, miniature figures and construction sets.

I did illustrations/design for games, packages, booklets, posters and other print materials. Specialized mainly in 3D graphics, but also involved in color separation and prepress tasks, researching and improving design techniques, and design/programming for web. Before that, in 1995, when Tehnolog decided to start it's own printhouse, I helped setting up studio and trained artists to use computers and programs.

Lecturer @ Gelendjik Institute of Arts; Gelendjik, Russia — 1998-2000

Well, it's an art school.

Taught Computer Science and Computer Graphics in Graphics Design program. Focus was mainly on 2D vector graphics, photo retouch and color proofing. Since this discipline was new at the moment, I designed my own coursework manual.

Senior Software Engineer @ Free Reason Group; Gelendjik, Russia — 1995-1998

Company produce and sell software and provide consultations and services in land surveying and architecture.

I'm one of the founders and lead developers of Geo Information System (GIS) "Free Reason". It was very well accepted by prospective customers and group continue development and this object-oriented data processor currently well known and widely used in Land Survey Committees and Architecture Departments in Krasnodar Region.

Publications

Freelance Author, Computerra Weekly Magazine; Moscow, Russia — 1998

Russian computer weekly publication. Magazine not only writes about computer hardware and software, but also philosophical thought about life, "computer people" life above all.

Computerra published two my articles: "A Russian Geodesy" (discussing first steps of using computers in geodesy and architecture) and "Crippled Inside" (discussing different aspects of programming for Windows GDI).
